Are you looking to change the design of your existing course? Do you want to go ahead in planning your course for the upcoming year? Are you looking to redesign your course with engaged student learning at the center?
Join colleagues from Villanova University and other institutions in a three-day Course Redesign Institute (CRI). Dr. Phyllis Blumberg, author of Making Learning-Centered Teaching Work (2019), will facilitate an interactive, applied, hands-on institute that gets you started redesigning (or designing) your course. You will leave with a learning-centered course outline including goals, activities and assessments, a concrete process and materials to successfully complete your course development.
Goals:
- Use backward course design principles to design courses
- Articulate clear learning goals for the course
- Match assessments to course learning goals
- Plan learning activities that support deep student learning and success
- Integrate elements of learning-centered teaching in the course
- Participate in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary faculty community focused on reflection and constructive feedback
Participants will receive an electronic copy of Making Learning-Centered Teaching Work (2019, Stylus).
Continental breakfast, lunch, refreshments and free parking provided in the registration.
Faculty will bring a laptop computer, course materials for one course they would like to revise or course description, materials for new course. Faculty will share their current and planned materials in the spirit of constructive feedback and improvement.
